Private 1:1 Sessions in Singing Voice Rehabilitation for singers diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia, vocal fold injuries or pathologies.
Imagine my devastation, as a professional singer, educator and voice user, to receive a diagnosis of bi-lateral vocal fold paresis in 2013. This rare neurological condition prevents the vocal folds from vibrating and coming together to produce sound, and it is not related to vocal technique or abuse."
Nothing but a “hissssss” came out.
The condition had been mis-diagnosed for 8 years by the medical community, so by the time the diagnosis was made the condition had deteriorated greatly.
I spent over ten years healing myself vocally, emotionally, and spiritually. I had seven private sessions with two expert singing voice specialists, but most of my progress came from my own efforts. Healing can involve much more than clinical voice therapies, especially in tough cases.
It turns out that I was born to help guide and heal voices and hearts.
I use evidence-based adult learning methods, brain and voice science, intuitive somatic perception and trained somatic experiencing methods to work with clients. I am trauma-informed and also have healthy personal boundaries. I work as a team with other voice teachers, speech language pathologists, voice researchers and health workers.
It is my passion & mission to help singers who are not able to experience singing as joyful!
